Kiso Komagatake stands at an elevation of 2,956 meters, the tallest peak in the Central Alps. While there is a steep Hacchozaka hill at the beginning of the trail from the hotel, if you stay at the hotel you can leave before the first ropeway arrival, providing a quite and relaxed hike. Once you climb the steep hill and make it to the ridgeline the view opens up and all that is left is a gently sloping trail to the peak. This trail is not overly physically demanding, so most people can easily complete it in half a day. If you do decide to climb Mt. You will not need extremely heavy clothing.

However, avoid wearing cotton clothing when on a hike. Cotton fabric will absorb moisture when you sweat and it is very difficult to dry. If your body is continually wet you will lose body temperature, which will not only steal your strength, but also could cause hypothermia depending on the conditions. Therefore, be sure to wear polyester or wool clothing that is both warm and easily dries after getting wet. Ideally, polyester should be warn in the summer when it is warm and wool in the autumn when it is cold.

Take only what you need and make sure your belonging are compact. It is important to adjust your temperature by removing layers if you get hot and adding layers if you get cold.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”What to Bring” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:2em|text_align:left|color:%23ce275f” css=”.vc_custom_1460539483221{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]*This is the recommended minimum necessary gear for a summer hike.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”633″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” image_hovers=”false” css=”.vc_custom_1460539521698{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1460540083171{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1460539917056{padding-right: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;}”]

Rain gear (rain coat)
Bring a top and bottom made of Gore-Tex or other breathable water proof material.
